The North Carolina Courage marked a significant milestone during their home opener at First Horizon Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park, with an attendance of 8,158 spectators. Despite setting a new record for home opener attendance and ranking sixth in the club’s history overall, the Courage faced a 2-1 defeat against Seattle Reign.

Seattle took the lead in the first half when Jess Fishlock scored in the 35th minute from a cross by Maddie Mercado. The visitors extended their advantage with Jordyn Bugg’s goal in the 56th minute, following a clearance by the Courage. However, North Carolina responded swiftly with Aline Gomes finding the net just three minutes later after Denise O’Sullivan’s determined play.

After the match, Jessica McDonald was inducted into the Ring of Honor alongside Sam Mewis, who was inducted in 2024.

Saturday’s game also marked Sean Nahas’ 100th match as head coach for North Carolina Courage across all competitions.

Next week, North Carolina will travel to face Portland Thorns on March 29 at 10 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on ION.
