Town of Holly Springs issued the following announcement on Mar. 11.

Bass Lake Boat Rentals Delayed as Streambed Restoration Continues

Work continues on restoring parts of Bass Lake damaged by Hurricane Matthew, delaying boat rentals for the season. When construction is complete, the trail and pedestrian bridge, closed since the hurricane, will reopen for residents. Construction efforts currently are focused on repairing the stream channel that leads toward Bass Lake Road from the dam.

During construction, visitors can expect:

The regular entrance to Bass Lake Park is closed, and all visitors will need to use the first gate for entry into and out of the facility. (Click here for enlarged map.)

Also, the pedestrian sidewalk that runs along the entrance is closed, with a temporary pathway available during construction.

To accommodate restoration work, the lake level has been lowered temporarily. Boat rentals are temporarily unavailable to prevent boats from becoming stuck in shallow muddy areas and to prevent potential damage to boat motors from materials on the lakebed.

Construction hours are Monday through Friday 7 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m.-6 p.m. No construction will be completed on Sundays or holidays.
