Town of Holly Springs issued the following announcement on Mar. 30.
Police Ask Community to Work Together to Keep Everyone Safe
While most people are abiding by the Stay at Home Order, the Holly Springs Police Department is seeing some violations and is asking the community to work together to keep everyone safe. Police have seen a marked increase in calls regarding teenagers congregating in neighborhoods, trespassing at closed facilities and committing acts of vandalism. Parents are being asked to keep their teenagers at home during the COVID-19 health crisis.
"We understand that everyone is feeling the strain of being stuck at home during this unprecedented situation," said Holly Springs Police Chief John Herring. "But we are concerned that dealing with juvenile gatherings and mischief could potentially tax our resources at a time when we need to be available for more serious needs in our community."
Also, police officers have witnessed a number of "block parties" in neighborhoods, which violate the Stay at Home order and impede Public Works from picking up yard waste in a safe environment. So far, violators of the Stay at Home Order have been educated by law enforcement, however, citations will be issued to repeat offenders.
