Zebulon Police Department issued the following announcement on Jul. 22.
We regret to inform our community that Carlton Lamont Damon Jr (17) has died as result of the gunshot wound he suffered yesterday evening in the parking lot of 407 W Gannon Ave.
Javion Zyrrell Whitfield, 8/26/01, Apricot Ln. Wendell, has been arrested and charged with murder and is being booked into the Wake County Jail.
Kudos to the ZPD family for their tremendous teamwork over the last 8 hours.
We would like to thank everyone who helped share this story. If not for your willingness to get involved, the case would not have been solved as quickly as it was.
