Town of Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department issued the following announcement on Nov. 7.
Holly Springs Parks & Recreation has received the North Carolina Recreation and Park Association Arts & Humanities Award for the Town’s International Food Festival event. The event held in June outside the Cultural Center, celebrated more than a dozen countries through food, beverages, music, and dance. Attendance was estimated at 3,000 people.
“We are very proud of this initial effort to bring more cultural awareness to Holly Springs,” said Parks & Recreation Director LeeAnn Plumer. “The goal of the International Food Festival was to showcase the diversity of the community through food, beverages, and cultural entertainment.”
For the event, the Town partnered with the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce and the Holly Springs Interfaith Alliance, which brought network connections with religious organizations and local businesses. The festival welcomed and encouraged additional cultural awareness partnerships with the addition of the Darshana exhibit and Bollywood dance classes.
The North Carolina Arts & Humanities Award is presented to an agency that demonstrates innovation, contribution to the community served, and an expanded interest in the arts and humanities program area.
Congratulations to Holly Springs Parks & Recreation for this amazing accomplishment!
