Town of Knightdale issued the following announcement on Nov. 26.
To better protect spectators and parade participants, the following permanent safety measures will be implemented for our upcoming Knightdale Christmas Parade.
Effective immediately:
• Vehicles pulling floats must be current with their registration, and their operators must have a valid operator’s license (license and registration). Having a valid registration verifies that each vehicle is safe to operate on the road by the registering State.
• No candy shall be thrown or tossed from floats or vehicles. Candy can only be passed out from the ground-level by walkers accompanying floats or vehicles.
• Additional program staff will be assigned to monitor sections/blocks of the parade to keep the spectators from entering the parade space.
• Staff will make every effort to place groups of walkers and floats in a way that shields walkers from any potential dangers from floats or vehicles.
Thank you in advance for complying with these updated precautions.
