According to ABC Channel 11 News, the senior pastor for a church in Cary confirmed earlier this month that the Wake County coronavirus patient is a member of his assembly.

Herz-Lane said the patient last attended his church services on Feb. 23. The patient then attended another meeting on Feb. 25.

Herz-Lane confirmed that the Wake County Health and Human Services officials told the leaders of the church there are should be no health hazards for members. The church officials also confirmed the church will continue to hold services as always.

"We are, however, following the recommendations for taking precautions, such as limiting contact with among parishioners during worship and frequently wiping down doorknobs and surfaces," Herz-Lane wrote in a statement.

Wake County Public Health Director Chris Kippes said health experts have contacted everyone who came within contact distance of the patient.
