Wake County offered an online tool to help voters avoid long wait times at the polls.
The new tool on the county’s early voting portal, WakeVotesEarly.com, shows the current estimated wait times at each of the county’s 20 early voting locations, according to a news release on the county’s website.
“We’re excited because, with one click, residents can now see which early voting sites have shortest wait times, and decide instantly if it’s better to stay closer to home or to drive to another location to early vote,” Gary Sims, Wake County Board of Elections director, was quoted as saying in the release. “It should save them time and alleviate any frustrations that can come with waiting in long lines.”
Currently considered a pilot project as the county refines the tool, public feedback is welcomed and requested, according to the release.
The county’s early voting locations were open from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. during the week, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, which will be the final day of early voting.
