The North Carolina Courage has announced the acquisition of U.S. Women's National Team midfielder Jaedyn Shaw from San Diego Wave FC. The 20-year-old player is under contract through the 2026 NWSL season.

In exchange for Shaw, the Courage will provide $300,000 in allocation money, an international spot for both the 2025 and 2026 NWSL seasons, and $150,000 in intraleague transfer fees to San Diego. Additionally, there is a conditional agreement that could see the Courage send up to an extra $75,000 in 2025 allocation money to the Wave for up to $150,000 in intraleague transfer fees.

Jaedyn Shaw expressed her enthusiasm about joining North Carolina: “I am so grateful to be here and to call North Carolina home. I’m excited to experience a new style of play and to learn and grow alongside amazing players and coaches. I can’t wait to get to work and help bring another championship to Courage Country.”

Courage Head Coach Sean Nahas commented on Shaw's arrival: “Bringing Jaedyn here is a great day for our club. She is someone who has every tool at such a young age and will be a key part of our club. Her quality on the ball, both in possession and on the dribble, along with her levels in and around the box can unlock opposition. She suits our style of play and our supporters will be able to see one of the top young talents every week."

Shaw has played three seasons in the NWSL with San Diego Wave FC, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists over more than 3,000 minutes on the field since signing as a youth entry at age 17 in 2022.

Internationally, Shaw debuted with the USWNT senior team in 2023. She has scored eight goals and made one assist across 21 caps. Her contributions helped secure victories at several tournaments including the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Shaw's achievements also include being named US Soccer Young Female Player of the Year in 2022 after leading her team at various youth competitions.

She will join her national teammates for their January camp before reporting for preseason training with NC Courage.
