North Carolina Courage trades Haley Hopkins to Kansas City Current

The North Carolina Courage have completed a transaction with the Kansas City Current, acquiring $50,000 in intra-league transfer funds. In exchange, the Courage have traded forward Haley Hopkins to Kansas City.

Haley Hopkins was initially selected by the Courage as the 11th overall pick in the 2023 NWSL Draft from the University of Virginia. During her tenure with the team, she made 36 regular season appearances, scoring four goals and providing two assists over 1,896 minutes on the field. Additionally, Hopkins contributed three goals and three assists in cup competitions, including the 2023 NWSL Challenge Cup, which saw the Courage emerge victorious, and helped them reach the semifinals of the 2024 NWSLxLiga MX Femenil Summer Cup.

"We cannot thank Haley enough for her time, energy and commitment to her teammates, staff, and club. In her two years here, she helped lay the foundation for the forward direction we are going. We always talk about leaving a mark, and Haley did just that. We wish her all the best and much success on this new journey in Kansas City," stated Courage Head Coach Sean Nahas.

With this transaction completed, North Carolina Courage currently has 34 players attending preseason camp. Out of these players, 28 are under contract with 27 being active.
